Sweet Art Bakery hosts monthly decorating classes! The classes are geared towards beginners, but can be enjoyed by all, as many new techniques and tips are learned. Our classes are not only informative, but FUN!
Your registration fee includes expert instruction, and all the materials you will need to complete the projects. Best of all, you will leave with your edible masterpiece!
January 14, 2014 6:30-8:30pm Basic Cake Decorating $40
This class teaches the very basics of cake decorating. Baking the cake will be discussed, leveling, torting, filling and crumb-coating will be taught. Base icing the cake will be done, as well as basic piping techniques such as lines, dots, and writing with buttercream.
February 11, 2014 6:30-8:30pm Valentine Cookie Bouquet $50
This festive class will offer cookie decorating techniques that can be transferred to any occasion, but will be carried out in a Valentine’s Day theme this time around. The process of baking the cookies and putting them on sticks will be discussed. Techniques such as icing them, piping in royal icing on them as well as applying fondant embellishments, impressions, and drawing on the cookies will all be taught. The bouquet container as well as final decorative elements will be provided.
March 18, 2014 6:00-9:00pm (3 hours) Fondant Figure Making $60
This class is a NEW class, which offers a departure from cake and cookies into the FUN and creative world of fondant figure making! An overview of materials commonly used to create edible figures will be discussed and the preparation of these materials will be taught. Step by step hands-on instruction creating whimsical animals and people is provided, along with suggestions for practical uses for edible figures. All figures will be taken home at the conclusion of class!
April 19, 2014 (Saturday!) 10:00am-1:00pm KIDS come-and-go Decorating Class! $10 (paid at time of arrival)
This open-house style KIDS class will be taught during business hours, and will be on a come-and-go basis. The class fee includes decorating instruction including how to ice a cupcake and add decorative embellishments, and how to decorate an Easter themed cookie. Each child will leave with their edible creations and a goodie bag!
